RESUMO

A cavernicolous harvestman species, Nemaspela kotia sp. nov., is described from the Kotia Cave (=Kotiasklde Cave) in Zemo Imereti plateau, Imereti Region, West Georgia. Its males lack a cheliceral apophysis, a feature shared with the Georgian cave-dwelling Nemaspela femorecurvata Martens, 2006 and N. prometheus Martens, Maghradze & Barjadze, 2021. Besides, Nemaspela melouri Martens, Maghradze & Barjadze, 2021, known only from its type locality, is found in Solkota Cave (Tskaltubo Municipality, Sataplia-Tskaltubo karst massif, Imereti region, West Georgia). A key for the identification of the known species of Nemaspela is provided.

RESUMO

Here we present a description of a new aphid species from the subgenus Asterobium Hille Ris Lambers, 1938 of the genus Macrosiphoniella Del Guercio, 1911 in the tribe Macrosiphini Wilson, 1910 (Aphididae). The new speciesMacrosiphiniella (Asterobium) herczeki sp. nov. living on Galatella villosa (Asteraceae) in Tolbuchin region, Bulgaria, is described based on apterous viviparous females. The new species is morphologically similar to M. (Asterobium) konyratica Kadyrbekov, 2018 from Kazakhstan from which it differs in several morphological and metric characters. We provided an updated key to Blackmans & Eastop online key to Aster-feeding aphids.

RESUMO

Two new Caucasian species of the genus Niphargus Schidte, 1849 (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Niphargidae), N. rachalechkhumensis sp. nov. and N. tvishiensis sp. nov., are described from the stygobiotic habitats of the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti karst systems in Western Georgia. Both newly described species belong to the southwestern Caucasian Niphargus borutzkyi ingroup related to the European carphaticus species complex and can be clearly separated from the congeners by morphological features, mostly in uropod III and epimeral plates, and genetically. Identification key for all known species to the Niphargus borutzkyi ingroup is provided, as well as their phylogenetic relationships, the estimated time of the origin and the current distribution of the ingroup in the Colchis lowland of the southwestern Caucasus are also discussed.

RESUMO

Here, we present the descriptions of a new aphid species in the genus Pleotrichophorus Brner, 1930 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Macrosiphini), found by Kenneth L. Hibbard, inspection supervisor for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry. It is associated with Euthamia graminifolia (L.) Nutt. (Asteraceae) a native plant species in Florida, USA. Apterous and alate viviparous and oviparous females of Pleotrichophorus blackmani sp. n. are described and illustrated using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM images of apterous viviparous female of Pleotrichophorus glandulosus (Kaltenbach, 1846), type species of the genus Pleotrichophorus, are given for the first time. Taxonomic notes are given, and an updated key to the apterae of the Euthamia-feeding aphids is provided. A multigene phylogenetic analyses of two New World Pleotrichophorus species places the genus in the tribe Macrosiphini sensu stricto. Pleotrichophorus glandulosus, the type species of the genus, was described from Germany. European specimens of P. glandulosus from France had similar molecular sequences to both Florida species, strongly suggesting that the new species belongs in Pleotrichophorus. COI and gnd sequence data indicate that P. blackmani sp. n. can be identified reliably by DNA barcodes.

RESUMO

Geoica inbari sp. nov., living on Pistacia palaestina Boiss. (Anacardiaceae), is described based on apterous fundatrigeniae, fall migrants, embryos of apterous exules within fall migrants (fundatrispuriae) and the first instar larva of an apterous exule borne by a fall migrant, collected in the Mount Hermon area of Northern Israel. The new species differs from all other known Geoica species in its mitochondrial DNA, and from those known from Pistacia by the shape of the galls. It makes coral-shaped galls, while all congeners produce spherical galls. The new species is a member of the Geoica utricularia group and morphologically resembles Geoica wertheimae Brown Blackman, 1994.

RESUMO

Two highly specialized endemic troglobiotic harvestman species of the genus Nemaspela Silhavý, 1966 are described. N. melouri sp. nov. from Melouri Cave and N. prometheus sp. nov. from Prometheus Cave (Sataplia-Tskaltubo karst massif, Imereti region, western Georgia), respectively. Despite the fact that the entrances of the caves are positioned only 2.5 km apart, the new taxa differ from each other distinctly by presence vs. absence of male cheliceral apophysis, which is lacking in the second species. A key to the Caucasian species of the genus is provided. Relationships of Nemaspela species within the genus and with hypothetical epigean ancestors are discussed.

RESUMO

In two European species of the genus Plutomurus Yosii, P. carpaticus Rusek Weiner and P. unidentatus (Börner), several diagnostic morphological characters are specified and illustrated: body chaetotaxy, number of internal spine-like chaetae on tibiotarsi and number of teeth on claw. The contribution is based on the study of type specimens of both species and specimens of other populations of their distribution ranges. The numerous specimens of the genus Plutomurus collected recently in the Western Carpathian caves are the most similar to P. carpaticus, but differ in macrochaetotaxy and may represent a new species. Three types of macrochaetae on thorax and abdomen of Plutomurus congeners from the Europe and Caucasus are defined. Identification key to European Plutomurus species is provided.

RESUMO

Here we present a description of a new aphid species-Uroleucon (Uroleucon) lebanonense sp. nov. associated with Tragopogon coloratus (Asteraceae) in Lebanon. Apterous and alate viviparous females of the new species are described and illustrated, and compared with the morphologically similar species Uroleucon (U.) mongolicum Holman, 1975. An identification key to Palaearctic Uroleucon species with three setae on the first tarsal segment is provided. On the basis of the re-examination of the type material, we propose to restore the valid species status of U. (U.) altaicum Szelegiewicz, 1982 bona species which was regarded as a synonym of U. mulgedii (Nevsky, 1928). Additionally, we propose transfer of U. (U.) altaicum, U. (U.) bielawskii (Szelegiewicz, 1962) and U. (U.) mulgedii to the subgenus Lambersius Olive.

RESUMO

Two new species of Plutomurus, P. pichkhaiai sp. nov. from Garakha and Letsurtsume caves and P. shurubumuensis sp. nov. from Shurubumu Cave (Chkhorotsku district, Western Georgia) are described, and illustrated. The new species are very similar to P. kelasuricus from the Tsebelda karst massif formation in Apkhazeti, Georgia, but differ in having two inner spine-like chaetae on the inner edge of the hind tibiotarsus (only one in P. kelasuricus) and in occupying different, isolated cave formations separated by a geographic distance of nearly a 100 km. A key to the species of Plutomurus with 6 prelabral chaetae is provided.

RESUMO

We present the first records from Iran of Macrosiphoniella (Asterobium) davazhamci Holman Szelegiewicz, 1974 and M. (Ramitrichophorus) nikolajevi Kadyrbekov, 1999 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae) from samples collected by the late Prof. G. Remaudière. Previously, Macrosiphoniella davazhamci was known from Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China, whereas M. nikolajevi only from south Kazakhstan. The Iranian material includes hitherto unknown or poorly known morphs of those two species. We describe and illustrate for the first time the alate vivipara of M. nikolajevi and the ovipara and alate male of M. davazhamci. Additionally, we redescribe the poorly known alate vivipara of the latter species. Notes on the distribution and host plants in Iran are also provided.

RESUMO

The aphid genus Myzaphis van der Goot, 1913 from the tribe Macrosiphini is revised to include eight species. Apterous and alate viviparous females, known fundatrices and known sexual morphs (oviparous females and males) of Myzaphis bucktoni, M. juchnevitschae, M. rosarum, M. tianshanica and M. turanica are re-described and illustrated. Lectotype and paralectotypes of Myzaphis bucktoni and M. turanica are designated. The status of M. komatsubarae nomen dubium is discussed. Myzaphis avariolosa is regarded as a species belonging to the genus Ericaphis. Three new species: M. oezdemirae Kanturski & Barjadze sp. nov., M. tuatayae Kanturski & Barjadze sp. nov. from Turkey and M. rezwanii Kanturski & Barjadze sp. nov. from Iran are described and illustrated. Myzaphis bucktoni is recorded from Portugal for the first time. Diagnosis of the genus Myzaphis van der Goot, 1913 is redefined and a new genus Richardsaphis Kanturski & Barjadze gen. nov. is erected with the type species R. canadensis (Richards) comb. nov. Richardsaphis is for the first time recorded from the USA and hitherto unknown oviparous female and alate male are described and illustrated. Original keys to species of the genus Myzaphis and aphid genera of the tribe Macrosiphini with 2-2-2 first tarsal chaetotaxy are also provided.
